NFTs - learn how to donate your NFT proceeds to fund clean water projects

NFTs: Creating art and opportunity

As NFT enthusiasts (we know our Bored Apes from our Cool Cats!) we are thrilled that members of the NFT community are interested in donating their sale of their NFTs to support clean water projects.

The easiest way is to donate your NFT proceeds in your cryptocurrency of choice is via our crypto donation widget. We work with The Giving Block and all donors have the option to identify your donation or donate anonymously. Both identified and anonymous donations receive a donation receipt which US tax payers can then use to off-set their personal tax obligations.

Joey Lawrence

In 2021 we received our first NFT donation, from celebrated Brooklyn-based photographer, and long-time WaterAid supporter, Joey Lawrence.

WaterAid has been working with Joey Lawrence since 2017, when he shot our Winter appeal footage in Sierra Leone, capturing Joe, Nancy and all in the a series of atmospheric, natural photographs. Those photographs were featured in an exhibition in London in 2018.

As the market for NFTs grew in 2020, Lawrence decided to create a series of NFTs from his photography trip to Ethiopia for WaterAid's 2020 Winter appeal. The NFTs were sold on and the proceeds donated to WaterAid and one other non-profit.
