In countries across the world, it often falls upon women and girls to walk hours to collect heavy buckets of water for their family to drink, bathe in, and to grow food.

The water they collect is dirty, and riddled with diseases that kill more children than almost anything else on earth.

But they have no choice. Mothers like Rani (pictured) must collect water for her family, even whilst pregnant. And despair at the reality that her daughter Suma will likely face the same struggles.

Rani and Daughter
“Women of our village are suffering silently. We starve. We stay thirsty and we cannot complain… I fear for my daughter… What will happen to her if she also suffers like me? Who will save our daughters?”

– Rani, Bangladesh

Even worse, climate change is causing more extreme weather, and disease spreads fast in floodwaters after storms, putting families in even greater danger than before.

  • One in ten people in our world don’t have clean water close to home.
  • 800 children a day die of diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation.
  • Two billion people do not have water that can safely withstand the impacts of climate change.

Donate now to help provide safe water, and prevent mothers like Rani from passing on a cycle of suffering to their daughters.

Will you help change the future for the next generation of girls?
