The Severn Trent Mountain Challenge
The Severn Trent Mountain Challenge returns on Saturday 9 July 2022!
About the challenge
Setting off from Hope Valley College, you'll self-navigate across the glorious Dark Peak area, flexing your map reading and orienteering skills along the way.
Take on some exhilarating inclines – and enjoy spectacular views from the top! – before descending back through Edale to Hope Valley College for refreshments and hot food.
All registration fees and sponsorship will go towards our work to bring clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to communities in Bangladesh, supported by the Severn Trent WaterAid committee.
How to register
You can choose to take on the 10, 20 or 30 mile routes as a self-navigating team, or you can join a 10 mile guided walk.
You can join the challenge as a group of between three and seven people.
- Decide on your team and nominate a team captain.
- The team captain must register first for your chosen challenge and the 'self-guided team walk', so that they can create the 'team'.
- The rest of the team will then register and choose to join the team.
If you're keen for the challenge but less confident in your orienteering skills, you can join the guided walk. Please note that the guided walk is possible for the 10 mile challenge only.
The challenge event pack contains everything you need to know about taking part, including how to prepare, what to expect on the day, the challenge rules, and what to do in case of any problems. Please make sure you read it carefully!
The pack also includes your medical card and car park voucher. All participants must print out and complete the medical card, keeping it with you at all times throughout the event.
We've partnered with the experts at RunningWithUs to put together training guides to help you prepare for the big day, whatever your level of experience:
